Every now and again I get an internal burst to write poetry. This latest insipiration came whilst I was mid air returning from Hajj 2015.
Have you ever heard of cloud flying,
It is indeed a feat that is most trying.
Lend me an ear, and I’ll grant you wisdom,
For verily the sages are the people of stardom.
Roll down your eyelids, as shutters descend on a home,
Connect with your inner reality, for that is the gnome.
Allow yourself to be lifted from the mundane, and gravitate,
If you do this well, then in no time, you shall begin to elevate.
The creatures of this life have explored beyond this realm,
By digging deep, looking ahead, and remaining at the helm.
See the clouds above, below, to your left, to your right,
Direction becomes secondary the moment you are in flight.
The day you fly, is the day you are granted life,
For without height, you shall find yourself in great strife.
Ponder for a moment on your current situation,
Perhaps you feel comfort, or even an inkling of trepidation.
With fear and discomfort, comes agitation and movement,
Whilst being self content yields no ongoing development.
You must first learn how to crawl, walk, then run,
But it is only through desire, that you fly to the One.
Your purpose, your direction, your power, your strength,
All other avenues produce weakness, not strength.

Wa Alaykum Assalam Munif.
May Allah accept from all the pilgrims and non-pilgrims. I’m glad there was some benefit in the words you read. Perhaps some time later I can add some commentary to each line.
